The £18m refurbishment of Derby station which started in February 2008 is now almost complete. At the beginning of October 2009, only Platform 1 remained closed. In this photograph, taken on Saturday 3 October, the new-look Southern end of the station was host to three East Midlands Trains Class 153 units, in the form of nos. 153308 and 153310 which are departing from Platform 4 with the 1342 Matlock to Nottingham service and no. 153321 waiting in the bay Platform 5 with the 1442 train to Crewe (via Stoke-on-Trent). |
